Useful tools, published by Port233
Port233 brings together free tools for business and everyday IT: branded invoice, quote and estimate PDFs, connection checks, domain and email diagnostics, subnet planning and password generation. Our guides explain how to use the tools and where their limits are.
Port233 Network Check is a public diagnostic service from Port233 LTD for checking the network details a remote service can see from your browser. It combines public IP information, approximate provider metadata, and browser-based performance measurements in one place.
The service is designed for practical troubleshooting. It helps home users, remote workers, and small teams capture enough context to tell whether a connection issue is related to the broadband provider, local Wi-Fi, VPN routing, device behavior, or temporary congestion.
What you can do here
- Create branded PDF invoices in 18 currencies with Invoice Studio.
- Prepare branded quote and estimate PDFs with Quote Studio, with independent drafts and reference numbers.
- Your public IP address as seen by internet services.
- Approximate network provider, ASN, region, and timezone metadata.
- Download, upload, latency, and jitter measurements from the browser session.
- Plain-language interpretation for common network symptoms.
- Public DNS, website, certificate, and email authentication configuration.
- IPv4 subnet planning and local password generation.
How to use the results
A single result is a snapshot, not a full audit. For support cases, run tests at the time the problem appears, compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet where possible, and note whether VPN software, mobile data, mesh Wi-Fi, or heavy background traffic was active.
The guides section explains how to read the metrics and gather better evidence before escalating a connection issue.
How our tools work
Invoice creation
Invoice Studio generates PDFs on your device using bundled software and fonts. Your business setup and one current draft are saved in this browser. Settings exports contain your business setup, not client details or the current draft. Umami counts page visits without document contents or editor action tracking. The editor loads no advertising scripts. It does not send invoices, store a full invoice history, convert currencies or determine tax eligibility. You choose the tax treatment and review the PDF before sending. See the invoice walkthrough for an example.
Quotes and estimates
Quote Studio uses the same bundled PDF engine for proposals with a Quote or Estimate heading, optional validity dates and terms, and projected tax. It keeps a separate browser draft and reference series from invoices. Importing invoice settings is explicit and excludes banking and client data. Umami counts page visits without document contents or editor action tracking. It does not convert proposals into invoices, track acceptance or send documents. See the quote and estimate walkthrough.
Public IP and provider lookup
Port233 identifies the address from the incoming request and uses IPinfo or ip-api for approximate provider and location metadata, with a fallback if one fails. This describes the route used by that request. It does not identify a person, scan your local network, or establish your physical location. An unavailable metadata provider can leave some fields empty while the address itself is still available.
Connection performance
The browser uses Cloudflare’s speed-test engine with 20 latency requests, five 2 MB downloads, and four 1 MB uploads. These transfer payloads total about 14 MB; protocol overhead and additional latency requests use more data. The default timeout is 45 seconds. Small transfers can understate a fast connection’s capacity, so use this test to compare conditions and investigate symptoms rather than certify a line speed.
Port233 shows download, upload, latency, and jitter. It does not display packet loss or a separate loaded-latency result. Its interpretation labels are heuristics, explained in the speed-test guide. Tests contact Cloudflare, whose engine documentation describes its collection of completed measurement results.
Domain and email checks
The server queries public DNS and makes bounded HTTP, HTTPS, or TLS checks for the requested public domain. This is a view from our server, not a global propagation test. Resolver failures and timeouts can leave records undetected. A missing result should be confirmed at the authoritative DNS host before changing a working setup.
The email checker inspects published records and selected DKIM selectors. It does not send a test message, validate a live DKIM signature, measure sender reputation, or promise inbox delivery. Its SPF analysis counts visible lookup mechanisms; it does not recursively evaluate every nested include. A score summarises the checks performed and is not a security certification.
Local calculations and passwords
The subnet planner calculates IPv4 ranges in the browser; it does not discover devices, reserve addresses, or configure a router. The password generator uses browser Web Crypto randomness and keeps generated values in page memory. It does not send them to our servers. Save a chosen value in a password manager before leaving the page. The password page does not load AdSense.
For provider details, see the Cloudflare engine documentation. Our privacy policy describes diagnostic processing and analytics.
Publishing and corrections
Port233 LTD publishes the tools and guides on this site. The guides explain the behaviour of these tools and turn results into practical troubleshooting steps. Worked examples are labelled as illustrative; they are not client case studies. Technical references appear alongside the guides so readers can check the underlying protocols and provider documentation.
An update date identifies a content revision, not continuous monitoring of an external provider. If a result or explanation looks wrong, email support@port233.com with the page URL, time of the check, expected behaviour, and a redacted example. Do not send passwords, authentication tokens, or router credentials.
How the service is funded
The public tools and guides are free to use. Port233 also offers support services, sells optional resources through the Toolkit, and may earn commission from disclosed affiliate links. Recommendations do not alter diagnostic scores or results. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.
